The Russian Five
I’ve slowly, but surely, been making my way through the suggestions either emailed to me or left in what used to be the Pucks & Pixels Tumblr inbox. One design request was to create a graphic for the Russian Five, a lineup for the Red Wings during the 90’s. Despite being a Blackhawks fan, I love the history and traditions of the Wings. I very much enjoyed making this design, which is represented by my own interpretation of Detroit’s logo, five black stars and the Soviet hammer and scythe as the Russian Five “emulated the style of the Soviet Red Army teams that dominated world and Olympic competition during the 1970s, ’80s and early ’90s with a combination of speed and puck control.” (per Wiki) A big thank you to my follower Justin (@93JustinD) for this fun suggestion! I hope that everyone enjoys it!
